LtCol Thomas Schueman of Quantico, Virginia, is concerned about veteran mental health issues and co-founded Patrol Base Abbate located in Montana. It is a fast-growing organization that helps veterans and military members cope with personal issues. Tom was motivated to start the program by the high veteran suicide rate. The impact of Patrol Base Abbate across all the service branches has been tremendous. After five years, the organization has touched 10,000 lives and served 1,000 veterans at the base camp.

“Losing so many Marines on the home front made me feel like I had a duty to do something,” he said.

Notably, Tom also wrote the book Always Faithful, sharing his mission to evacuate his Afghan interpreter from Kabul. His story has been featured on Good Morning America and in The New York Times.
